📚🛶💚🐻📚 BLOG POST # 1: Turning a Story Idea into a Published Children's Book
Have you ever had an idea for a story, but weren't sure how to move forward with it? Maybe you’ve dreamt of writing a children's book for years but didn’t know where to begin. That was me. For 7+ years, I’ve had multiple children book ideas in my head and sometimes written out for my three young sons to enjoy at storytime.
I finally decided that this was the year I would make my dream a reality. But, where do you start? The answer came when a good friend recommended Halo Publishing. She stated that she had a fantastic experience with the company, and I knew I had to explore this path.
In this first stage of the process, I began to focus on the story. What message did I want to send to kids? What values did I want to instill in young readers? These questions became my starting point.
But even after solidifying the idea, the journey felt a little daunting. As someone new to publishing, I didn't know what to expect. How do you find an editor? Do you self-publish or go the traditional route? What about illustrations? The process seemed endless, and I had no idea where to turn next.
This is where Halo Publishing came into play. Their team guided me every step of the way, providing me with the support and resources I needed. More about that in my next post, where I dive into the nuts and bolts of the publishing process.
